The Survey

So, how will BOURNE EPCs carry out your survey?

With care and consideration. Home owner or tenant...it is YOUR home.

We will arrive promptly at the agreed appointment time.

Upon the DEA's arrival he/she will present you with their photo ID Card.

And put on "indoor shoes" to protect your carpets.

Please note that the only cupboards that the DEA would like access to are those containing any heating controls, a hot water cylinder or electric meter.

The DEA will talk to you prior to the survey and after the survey and answer any questions you may have.

The DEA will;

Classify property age.
Record build date of any extentions.
Measure the property to calculate cubic capacity.
Identifying & measure heat loss paramiters.
Identify wall construction and any insulation.
Determin floor construction.
Identify Glazing type and construction.
Identify type of heating, fuel and controls.
Identify type of any secondary heating.
Identify type of domestic hot water system(s) and controls.
Measure Insulation and determine controls on hot water cylinders.
Note Fixed lighting and low energy fittings
Measure loft insulation and type. (All our Energy assessors have telescopic ladders to access loft spaces).
Check and note any evidence of damp/condensation.

For quality control/audits, it is a requirement that the DEA take photographs of the above. This is to ensure that the DEA is meeting the very stringent regulations of energy assessments.

In accordance with DEA licensing regulations, DEA's are to ensure that the following are excluded from photographs;

Alarm/security systems
Family pictures
Children
Valuable items

These photographs will only be seen by NHER and only if they should wish to carry out a quality audit.
